Team did great and had fun, even with some adversity with a couple of lower scores.
In summary, they had their best showing yet...

The team made their presentation very well.
They did a fine job delivering it, and answering the questions
The judges were amazed at the hand drawings, the arm mechanism,
and the intelligence of the robot.
In the field, we scored very high (2 scores of 118,
and 1 of 151, others were lower, 58, 18, etc.).
We finished 15th out of 35 (very impressive, especially
for a rookie team). We had the 10th highest top score.
We won 3 out of 5 matches (almost 4 out of 5, which would have elevated us significantly).
We turtled the robot once (ouch).
They made it to the finals (one of the winning teams picked us as an alliance partner).
We were probably the only rookie team who made it to the finals.
We won the Control Award, and got a trophy for it.

Finals

Even though not in the top 10, NYAN was selected as an alliance partner to compete in the finals!
A testament to our robot, the team, and the teams "selling" of themselves to other finalists.
(Our alliance did not win, unfortunately)

Other Robots

Here are some of the other robots we competed against and with.
A few had clever mechanisms. All seemed to struggle quite a bit with autonomous, and with stability

Finishing Up

  • 15th place overall (out of 35 teams), and 10th highest top score.
  • Won the Control Award (for our use of sensors, autonomous, and our redundancy mechanism for scoring the divers in autonomos or tele-op. Received a trophy.
